New Post: C4F Peer-To-Peer With Windows 7?

Quick question. I know C4F P2P isn't availible for XP. But what about Windows 7? I installed it to my computer using a Windows 7 OS, loaded Visual Basics up, everythings there except the P2P toolbar. The sample application loaded up, and all the functions work like: Chatroom/Picture Send/File Send.

Does anyone know how to get the P2P toolbar to show while using Windows 7?

Hi all,

I'm trying to develop an internal chat application, and I would like to know:

1) Is there a way to list the people connected to a Network?

2) I've changed the buttons for joining and leaving the channel. But, when I connect, the leave button gets disabled. How can I enable this -and disable the join one-?

When i saw this i really wanted to make an app and it said that there are only four steps to creating one. I do them test it but i don't know usernames,passwords and networks and i tried putting in random ones.Any help with this is thanked.

Hi, I have recently started using the toolkit in a turn based dice game I am working on for family use. I have run into 2 problems with the WinForm controls.

I made a post on the Peer to Peer, MSDN Forum but have not seen a response. I found the one error in the NetworkManager code at Line 593-4 where it list the wrong button to link to. However I can not recompile the controls to fix as they are obviously password protected for security reasons.

Just using the NetworkManager and the Chat Control, what code would I need to copy to another project to compile for use in my app?

I heard on youtube that this tool is for LAN only.. Which means that we cant connect to people over the Internet that are not in our Area.... Is it possible to know the physical limits of a LAN and see how many users are connected into it?Thank you!!!

Hello everybody! Happy new year btw!! I am currently having troubles using C4F Vista P2P application... Basically, I added a networkmanager and a chat tool and I selected chat tool in the networkmanager properties in vs 2008. When I run the exe file, everything is fine. I can send messages and recieve messages only if i am running both apps at the same time on my pc. But when I send this app to a friend or somebody else, in thier case it says "connected" and they can send messages to but it doesnt seem that we both are connected on the same chatroom...It says that we are connected in the status but it doesnt say "user1" joined the room... I made sure that the network name and passwords are the same in both connections.... What should I do? I know that its only for vista and u need .net framekwork 3.0 or 3.5.... I aint a newbie... Any solutions?

Hmmm, I will recommend you that u should google net for info on
windows server 2008 bcos I havn't try it. I was using XP and Vista

I need some suggestions on how to setup the MS-PNRP private network between 2 machine running Windows server 2008 and Windows Vista.
Here are the steps that I followed for setting up the network
1.I started the pnrp services on both the machines.
2.IPV6 configuration is also proper, since I could ping the other machine through IPV6 address.
3.I added the machine name to both the systems.(0. unsecuresharathxxcom on Vista and 0. unsecureadminxxcom on Windows server 2008)

Guidance required for the following
1.I need to configure the Windows server machine as the seed server.
2.I need to give a peer name to both the machines so that i can ping the machines through the "Peer name"

I guess if I can setup the seed server and ping the machines through the peernames, pnrp network setup is complete. Then I can start running application based on PNRP protocol.

But when I open the source code for C4F Vista P2P Toolkit (there isn't any precompiled executable in the download), I get a message asking for a Password in order to install the P2PControls.pfx (certificate file). There isn't any documentation that talks about this and I have wasted a download and install for nothing. I would have thought that it could at least compile when installed if not actually have already been built once!

I am also running it on XP. but only chatting was working It has been said before it based on Vista. One idea is that after install C4F VISTA in to your XP machine check those quick guide and try to do it on Winform with 3.5 framework.

How many peers can chat simultaneous at a time? (eg on Vista seed server and XP PNRP)
